About

Anaid has been involved in dance for over a decade and has spent the last few years focusing on different styles of bellydance. She began studying Egyptian style bellydance under Asheba of San Antonio and soon discovered American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion bellydance. As she grew more intrigued, she headed for the nearest city with Tribal instruction, Austin, Texas. She also studied with Zira of the Gypsy Rogues, Michelle Manx, and Stacy Lizette all the while taking as many national workshops as she could afford each year.

Anaid directed a Gothic/Dark Fusion bellydance troupe for a brief time called Mystique Fusion Bellydance, which disbanded in November 2008. She relocated from South Texas and is currently living in the Bay Area. She performs her blend of Gothic/Industrial Fusion bellydance whenever possible, but can be seen performing Tribal Fusion bellydance on occasion. She has been fortunate to study with Amy Sigil and Unmata, Ariellah, Dusty Paik, Shabnam, and the Lady Fred, and persues a passion for Butoh, hip hop, and Kathak dance whenever she can. Anaid pulls inspiration from her love of opera, horror movies, and the beauty of the grotesque when creating aesthetics for her performances. It is her hope to promote and encourage up and coming, as well as seasoned, dancers to open up to new possibilities of fusion bellydance.
