About
Deidre Anaid is a San Franciso Bay Area Dark Fusion bellydancer and performance artist, as well as an event producer. She has been involved in dance for over a decade and has spent the last few years focusing on different styles of bellydance.
Although she first fell in love with Egyptian style bellydance, she soon discovered American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion bellydance. Eventually, her love for the gothic subculture, opera music, and horror movies made for the perfect blend of her own unique Dark Fusion style.
Deidre Anaid begain soloing throughout Texas in 2007, and in 2009 relocated to California. She performs her blend of Dark Fusion/Industrial Fusion bellydance whenever possible, but can be seen performing Tribal Fusion bellydance on occasion.
She has been fortunate to study with Amy Sigil and Unmata, Ariellah, Dusty Paik, Shabnam, and the Lady Fred, and persues a passion for Butoh, Hip hop, and Kathak dance whenever she can. Deidre Anaid pulls inspiration from not just bellydance but a myriad of places including nightmares and the grotesque. She loves bellydance for the endless possibilities it offers. She also strongly supports diversity in dance and is widely recognized for supporting her dance community. It is her hope to promote and encourage up and coming, as well as seasoned, dancers to open up to new possibilities of fusion bellydance.
