At this time all performance slots have been filled. A performance list will be posted soon. If you would like to be on the waitlist for performance, please contact Samara @ divasofegypt@yahoo.com.
If you are registered for at least 4 hours of workshops, you are eligible to dance in the evening show. We encourage dancers of all levels to perform as space permits, and we are scheduling on a first come basis. Troupes must have all members registered for workshop hours in order to perform. Time allotments are: soloists and duets 5 minutes, and troupes of 4 or more members, 6 minutes.
Please note that all performers in your troupe/group must sign the form or a copy to participate in November Noir. Forms from all participants and a CD with your music must be received by October 15, 2008, NO EXCEPTIONS, or you will be dropped from the performance schedule. In the event that all performance slots are filled, you will be waitlisted in the order in which your request was received. If any performance slots remain open prior to the event, you may be asked to perform twice.
November Noir is an event that promotes the use of dramatic, expressive and artistic belly dance. We do certainly appreciate the art of traditional belly dance, however this event was created to showcase modern and emerging belly dance and how it can be interpreted. With this is mind, please be respectful and stay within the parameters of nouveau noir, experimental, gothic, dark tribal, industrial, gypsy, fantasy, glam noir, flamenco, zambra, etc. dance styles. Also, please note that certain props such as live animals, fire, or pets are not allowed in the Scottish Rite Library and Museum.
If you are performing in the Gala, you do not need to purchase a ticket.
We ask that all performers check-in at the front table at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. A volunteer will direct you to the dressing area and confirm your performance time. Admission is free to all performers that are contracted to perform.
There will be a dressing area for performers only. No visitors will be allowed in the dressing room. Please be respectful of other dancers and follow this request as we would like for everyone to be comfortable and have plenty of space. We also ask that you have a robe or cover-up on when not performing during the evening performances.
All music must be sent on a CD by October 15, 2008. Please also have a back up available with you the day of the performance. Please make sure music stays within your allotted time frame, including exit and entrance time. Any music submitted that passes the permitted time will be stopped accordingly for performance. Thank you.
Due to changing backdrop scenery, larger troupes will perform the second half of the show. Stage size is 40’ x 12’ the first half of the show, and 50’ x 25’ the second half. Performers will be able to enter from the right or left side of the stage.
During the show, video and photography will be strictly prohibited. This includes the use of cameras, cell phones, and any other electronic device used for recording. If you are found to be recording, you will be asked to put the device away. If you continue, you will be escorted out and requested to put the device in your vehicle. We will have an official photographer who will be the only person allowed to photograph the event.
